Environment
Eniro works actively to minimise the company’s environmental impact. Eniro is currently in the process of environmentally certifying Eniro Group companies by identifying environmental impacts and establishing processes to continuously improve standards.
Environmental Certification
The Eniro parent company, Eniro AB, was ISO 14001 certified in January 2007. The Swedish subsidiaries Eniro Gula Sidorna, Eniro Sverige Online and Gula Sidorna Försäljning have been ISO 14001 certified and work has started to environmentally certify the companies Eniro 118 118, Din Del and Eniro Norway. In the process to become certified the company’s environmental impacts are identified and evaluated. An important principle of ISO 14001 certification is also to do a regular revision of environmental demands and targets, which constantly improves standards.
Identification of Environmental Impacts
During 2006 Eniro AB’s main environmental impacts were investigated as part of the ISO 14001 certification. The most significant environmental impacts resulting from company operations were identified as: raw forest materials, paper production, the use of paper and transport. Less significant impacts included energy use and waste products.
Eniro’s Services Reduce Environmental Impact
Eniro’s services reduce the need for long and unnecessary journeys by helping customers to find and contact local suppliers and services. In Sweden, Eniro route map and traffic monitoring services help users to plan efficient journeys that help avoid congested routes.
Personnel Environmental Awareness
Prior to ISO certification in Sweden, personnel underwent environmental education adapted for different groups of employees. Since 2005 Eniro Sweden has also worked actively with interactive environmental education via the intranet.
Organisation of Environmental Work
Environmental considerations are incorporated into all levels of the Eniro Group. On a Group level the ‘Purchase and Environment’ department is responsible for ensuring established environmental routines are followed when purchasing goods and services, such as the bulk purchase of paper for Eniro directories from environmentally certified suppliers. At market level, managers are responsible for considering environmental impacts and deciding on appropriate action, under the guidance of specialist environmental staff. Eniro’s environmental work is revised biannually at group management level.
