1880

The first register of Norwegian telephone number was published. Within the Norwegian Televerket (later Telenor), telephone directories were initially published by the telephone districts and later by a separate directory unit.

1889

The Royal Telegraph Agency in Sweden published the first national Swedish telephone directory, a list of 320 subscribers in Stockholm that was printed in several hundred copies. Later the same year, an expanded list comprising 32 pages was published. The cover was adorned with the Göta Lion holding the telephone arrows and the national emblem.
