Product development
Demand for search services is increasing and changing even more rapidly, not least due to rapid advances in technology and new user patterns.
Eniro responds to user requests
Eniro continuously evaluates the existing service offering. New products and services are tested using test panels and surveys. Eniro is continuously increasing its knowledge of user patterns, requirements and usability.
Strategic product and service development
The development of new products and services – either through our own product development or through alliances with various partners – is a central component in Eniro’s strategy to strengthen and enhance its position as the Nordic region’s leading search company.
The guiding principle for product development is to develop services that help users find products and suppliers more easily and to provide better information on how to contact or find the supplier.
Closer to the transaction
To an increasingly greater extent, Eniro’s services are moving closer to the actual transaction between the buyer and the seller. The following are a few examples of this trend from Swedish operations.
Enhanced functions for in-depth local searches by giving users an opportunity to search for specific products, brands or services and to contact the supplier directly
Click-to-call services meaning that users can click a link in the advertisement, enter their telephone number and then receive a call from the company they are seeking
Price comparison function Eniro Shopping
Eniro Buy & Sell is also available via mobile phones, which can also be used to enter advertisements
Users are able to submit opinions of advertisers
A service for booking tables at restaurants
Broader customer offering
The customer offering is also being expanded, and emphasis is being placed on demonstrating the return on advertisements. Today, Eniro offers customers paid search for which the customer pays per click and where the price is established through an auction model with transparent pricing. Eniro also has access to a network of media partners through which Eniro’s advertisers can advertise with sponsored links in editorial environments. Metered calls are also available to show how many calls are generated by the customer’s advertisement.
Development of directories and directory assistance
Directories are also being enhanced. The 2006 edition of the Swedish Yellow Pages (Gula Sidorna), for example, contains more public information, guides to restaurants, wedding needs and body & soul, as well as a clearer organization of headings that helps users find what they are seeking faster. In Sweden’s three largest cities, the Yellow Pages are published in a smaller format with a selection of headings that may be useful for people who are traveling – Gula Sidor – on the go.
The 118 118 directory assistance service in Sweden has been enhanced as a personal information service. In addition to providing phone numbers, making connections and sending the number via SMS, the operators can help callers to find the nearest ATM, sewing supply shop or describe how to get to the nearest post office. Maps and travel directions can also be sent directly to a mobile phone.
Additional investment in product development
During the first quarter of 2006, Eniro took decision on an additional investment of SEK 50 M per year for Internet product development.
