See related information to the right for Eniro’s complete product offering in Finland.
The Finnish market is characterized by greater competition in printed directories than in the other Nordic countries. Also characteristic for the Finnish market is that directory assistance and mobile services are used to a greater extent than in other Nordic countries. For current information on Eniro’s market shares and user statistics, see the link under related information.
Eniro Finland’s customers range from small to large companies. Eniro’s assessment is that there are about 250,000 active companies that are potential customers. Eniro’s customer base consists of small and medium-size companies and large companies and organizations for which advertising in directories and on the Internet constitutes an important base for customer contracts, During 2007, Eniro invoiced some 60,000 customers.
Directories
Competition in the Finnish market for printed directories is fierce. Eniro’s largest competitor in Finland is Fonecta, which is owned by European Directories, and which apart from Eniro is the other large player in the market for regional and local directories, as well as business (B2B) directories.
The background is that the sale of the 2005 editions of the regional directories for Helsinki and Tampere took place under full competition, unlike previous years when sales were conducted jointly with another player. As a result of the changed competitive situation, Finnish households receive directories from two different suppliers.
Eniro has a broad offering of printed directories in Finland. As the official publisher of the telecom operator Elisa’s directory information, Eniro publishes regional directories in Helsinki and Tampere. Eniro’s telephone directories cover all of Finland and are published in 33 retail areas, including the Helsinki and Tampere regions. Kaupunki-info® is Eniro’s local directory, while Yritystele® is Finland’s most frequently used business directory.
Internet services
The Finish market for Internet services is more fragmented and less well developed than the Internet markets in the other Nordic countries. One example of this is that the Finnish Internet advertising market accounts for a smaller portion of the country’s total media market than in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Eniro’s network of Finnish web sites includes the search services eniro.fi, yritystele.fi and the portal suomi24.fi.
In the market for Internet and mobile services, Eniro faces competition from several national and international players.
Directory assistance
In Finland, use of directory assistance services is dictated to some extent by the user’s operator. Eniro 0 100 100® is an operator-independent directory assistance services with information on telephone numbers, names and addresses for companies and private persons in all of Finland. In addition, Eniro provides the nationwide directory assistance service 118 that the country’s telecom operators offer its customers.
In directory assistance, Eniro is the second largest in Finland after its competitor Fonecta.
Mobile services
The Finnish market is characterized by high use of mobile services, compared with other countries. The search service eniro.fi is also available via mobile phones. The service offers contact information for companies and private persons in all of Finland together with maps and links to other mobile services.
